ACU social work: confirm degree delivery and ILSC pathway conditions separately

At a glance

Check the ACU social work offering, intensive attendance and placement arrangements separately from the exact ILSC English pathway accepted for your offer.

ACU's 2026 Shantou social work workshop lists Canberra, Sydney and online study for the Master of Social Work (Qualifying). It also says an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) package is available with ILSC. These describe different parts of a study plan: the degree offering and an English preparation route.

Before relying on a package, confirm both. A description of online coursework does not determine which English pathway is accepted for an offer, and approval of an English pathway does not settle the degree's attendance arrangements.

Establish the degree offering and attendance requirements

The workshop describes a two-year full-time qualifying master's. ACU's 2027 international course information, checked on 17 October 2026, lists Canberra and Strathfield for face-to-face study.

Its online-delivery description includes 140 hours, or 20 days, of face-to-face classroom learning through intensives at Melbourne, with other campuses possible depending on demand. That description should not be presented as a wholly remote qualification or as confirmation that an online offering is available to every international applicant.

Ask which offering applies to your circumstances and intake, where attendance takes place and what dates must be protected before arranging accommodation or other commitments. An online listing alone does not determine suitability for an individual student-visa plan.

Include field education in the same enquiry

Workshop slide 6 separately identifies 1,000 compulsory field-education hours. Keep supervised field education distinct from the classroom intensives described on the course page; they are different elements of the course information.

For the offering you are considering, ask how placement locations and attendance are arranged alongside coursework. Do not infer a nearby agency or a personalised timetable from the word “online”. The placement and attendance planning guide explains the workshop's separate agency-day and campus-day arrangement, which still needs checking against the actual offering.

Identify the exact ILSC pathway

ACU's pathway information says the university no longer delivers English language preparation courses and refers students needing this support to ILSC for an approved pathway.

The ILSC 2026 ACU workshop also describes online English options, including University Pathway study. The existence of that option does not establish that its delivery mode or completion result is accepted for this particular qualifying master's.

Name the exact degree and intake when asking about the required completion level, accepted study mode, assessed duration and result needed to satisfy your offer's English condition. These are suggested enquiry headings, not an additional university application form.

An English pathway also does not replace the separate assessment of prior academic study. Record the degree offering, practical attendance requirements and accepted English arrangement together, so that one confirmed condition is not mistaken for approval of the whole package.
