For ACU’s Master of Teaching (Secondary), begin with the subject you have studied deeply. ACU’s teaching workshop presents a two-year graduate-entry pathway and emphasises prior degree content, especially for secondary teaching. Enjoying a school subject and having the academic background for a teaching area are different starting points.

The 2027 handbook requires a completed bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a major meeting the content requirements of at least one secondary teaching area offered by ACU. Victoria also has a suitability assessment. ACU 2027 Secondary course handbook

Build an academic match before choosing a campus

As enquiry preparation, identify your intended teaching area, gather your transcript and locate the subjects that show sustained study in that area. Have relevant subject descriptions available so ACU can assess the content behind your degree title. This is preparation for an assessment, not an official document checklist or a prediction of admission.

The workshop describes secondary teaching through subject expertise, adolescent learning and specialist teaching. Ask whether that combination interests you. Subject knowledge gives you something to teach; teacher preparation concerns how learners engage with it, how their learning is assessed and how teaching responds to their needs.

An undergraduate subject list elsewhere at ACU does not establish this master’s available teaching areas. Equally, the broad curriculum preparation in ACU’s Primary teaching master answers a different course-choice question.

Read the 2027 location notes with the list

The handbook lists several approved locations but explicitly says Blacktown and Brisbane are not offered in 2027. It also states there are no international intakes at Brisbane. Confirm your intended teaching area, student category and intake together; a university-wide campus list cannot establish that combination. Handbook locations and notes

Online appears in the handbook’s location list. That alone does not establish permission for an international applicant to study offshore or under a particular visa arrangement. Obtain the applicable course and offer information before organising travel or accommodation.

The named Internship specialisation has additional approved-cohort conditions. Its presence in the handbook is not an internship offer to every applicant. Handbook specialisation entry

Include the three placement units in your plan

The standard course schedule identifies these professional-experience components:

Unit Professional-experience days
EDET590 15
EDET690 20
EDET691 25

They total 60 days. The handbook also lists the LANTITE units. Handbook unit requirements

These are requirements to complete, rather than an individual school allocation or dated attendance plan. Before arranging other commitments, request the course map and professional-experience schedule for your cohort. As practical questions, consider school-day availability, travel and how other responsibilities would fit around the assigned blocks.

The workshop describes supervised practice as observing, co-teaching and leading learning, with feedback from qualified supervising teachers. Readiness therefore involves engaging with the teaching and feedback, as well as reserving time for attendance.

Keep entry assessment and registration separate

ACU’s workshop places professional experience, LANTITE and child-safety clearances within school-teacher preparation. It also distinguishes course-entry English from teacher-registration English. Establishing a suitable undergraduate major does not complete those later requirements.

A useful enquiry can bring three questions together: does your previous study match an offered teaching area, is the relevant course arrangement available to you, and what study and professional requirements must you plan for? The workshop’s two-year route describes teacher preparation; it does not promise admission, registration or employment in your preferred subject.
