ILSC Australia housing: homestay eligibility and residences
Check ILSC Australia’s homestay exclusions, meal and kitchen rules, residence examples, and the steps from a request to Final Confirmation.

ILSC’s Australian homestay page currently excludes two groups: Greystone College Australia students and ILSC Australia evening-schedule students. Check that restriction before comparing rooms or planning to combine an evening class with this homestay service. It does not mean every other enrolment automatically receives a placement. ILSC Australia homestay information
The 2026 workshop lists assistance with residences and homestays as part of student support. The more detailed official accommodation pages explain why those choices need separate questions: homestay involves a family’s meal and household arrangements, while the residence and apartment route is presented as independent, self-catering living.
Meals and kitchen use change the comparison
ILSC advertises its usual Australian homestay meal plan as half-board: breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is usually prepared by the student; dinner is prepared by the family at its household meal time. Weekday lunch and snacks remain the student’s responsibility.
The page says full-board arrangements may be possible on request for students under 18 and short-term study groups, subject to availability. That is an option to ask about, rather than a three-meals-a-day promise for every booking.
Cooking access also needs attention. The homestay information says students cannot assume access to cook in the kitchen: a host’s permission is needed, and the host is not obliged to allow it. This is a different daily arrangement from a self-catering residence, where the student expects to organise groceries, cooking and cleaning.
Disclose dietary needs during the accommodation application and check what can be arranged, including any additional charge. A general meal-plan label does not settle an individual dietary request. ILSC homestay meal plans and practical guidance
Read the Australian residence listings as examples
ILSC’s residence page describes independent student residence or apartment options in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. Its Australian listings checked on 17 October 2026 include Student One in Brisbane, Campus Perth, Campus Melbourne and Iglu Melbourne City, and Scape Sydney Central and Iglu Chatswood in Sydney.
Those names illustrate the listed partner options. They do not establish that a particular room is available for your dates, that every property suits every age group or that accommodation is owned by ILSC or located on its campus. Check the actual property, room type, age conditions, inclusions and minimum stay in the proposed booking. ILSC Australian residence and apartment options
The page also contains listings for other countries. Keep the Australian section and your chosen city in view rather than treating a room or price elsewhere as an Australian option.
Compare the journey to the actual school
ILSC describes most residence and apartment partners as being 20 minutes or less from its schools. Its Australian homestay practical guidance describes homestays as usually in suburban areas, around 40–60 minutes from school by public transport. These are the provider’s general descriptions, rather than a maximum travel-time commitment for your placement.
Once an address is available, check the route to your actual campus at your expected travel times. Establish the transport needed and its cost. A city name or a general proximity statement does not settle the individual journey, and the residence description does not specify one universal travel mode.
Know which booking stage has been reached
The official accommodation policy distinguishes three stages:
- A Courtesy Hold is a temporary reservation while a student decides whether to proceed.
- Confirmation means the accommodation team has accepted the reservation and an invoice has been issued.
- Final Confirmation requires full accommodation payment and confirmed flight and arrival details within the applicable deadlines.
The policy says final confirmation provides details such as the address, contact information and accommodation description, with a homestay profile where applicable. A transfer confirmation is included if a transfer was requested; it should not be assumed to come with every stay. ILSC accommodation booking policy
Keep the written quote and applicable booking conditions with your dates. Check the weekly and administration charges, meal arrangements, minimum stay, payment deadlines and terms for changes or cancellation. This article does not reproduce every fee or cancellation condition, and a course change should not be treated as automatic approval of an accommodation change.
The useful comparison is therefore specific: an eligible enrolment, a suitable living arrangement, a workable journey and the right confirmation for the booked dates. ILSC’s support overview introduces the service; the current accommodation information and individual booking establish what can actually be arranged.
