ACU nursing rankings and 95% employment: what the figures do and do not tell you

At a glance

Read ACU’s October 2026 nursing workshop figures with their source and population limits. A subject ranking, a graduate employment percentage and an individual outcome are different things.

Australian Catholic University (ACU)’s official nursing workshop of 15 October 2026 presents nursing as being in the global top 30 and Australia’s top 10, and reports 95% graduate employment. These are useful institutional indicators, but they answer different questions. None is a personal probability of admission, registration or employment.

The right starting point is to preserve what the workshop says, then distinguish the ranking source from the population behind an employment statistic. Adding an attractive but unverified definition would make the number less reliable, not more informative.

What belongs to the workshop snapshot?

Slide 4 contains both ranking ranges and the 95% employment figure; slide 13 repeats the employment figure. The reference slide records access to ACU’s statistics and course pages on 6 October 2026.

That access date is not a survey year. The workshop does not specify the employment figure’s sample, domestic or international coverage, full-time or overall-employment definition, or measurement point after graduation. It can accurately be described as the figure reported in the October 2026 workshop, without inventing those missing details.

In particular, “95%” should not be expanded into “95% of international graduates found full-time nursing work within four months”. Each added qualification would require evidence not supplied by the workshop.

Ranking labels need their own year and source

On 17 October 2026, ACU’s key statistics page also listed nursing in Australia’s top 10 and the global top 30. Its ranking footnote identified Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026.

The Bachelor of Nursing page, meanwhile, displayed fourth in Australia and tenth worldwide, with a Shanghai 2023 ranking reference at the foot of the page. Its 2027 entry heading is an admissions-year label, not evidence that every statistic on the page measures 2027.

Those exact positions should not be substituted for the workshop’s ranking ranges as though the sources used the same edition. Nor does an older exact position invalidate a later, broader range. A meaningful comparison keeps subject, ranking system and edition together.

The separate 100% figure does not explain the 95%

The current key statistics page reported 100% employment for postgraduate nursing graduates, not the workshop’s 95%. Its footnote linked that statement to the 2025 Graduate Outcomes Survey: overall employment among domestic postgraduate coursework graduates in the labour force, four months after graduating. That is a specific population and measure, not a definition that can be transferred to another percentage. ACU key statistics.

The Bachelor of Nursing page also displayed 95% graduate employment when read. This confirms that ACU uses the figure on another public page, but does not supply the missing survey definition for it. Repetition of a headline is not proof of an international-student subgroup or a nursing-specific job outcome.

Use the indicators without turning them into a promise

A ranking describes comparative subject standing under a ranking system. An employment proportion describes an outcome for a defined group, to the extent that the definition is available. Multiplying the two, or treating the percentage as an applicant’s chance of success, has no sound basis.

For your own comparison, keep the number beside its source, date and known population. Where a detail is absent, leave it absent rather than borrowing a footnote from a different award level. The available material does not support a campus-by-campus employment rate, a personal job offer or a visa outcome.
